Gabriela Popescu

Thank you, Kellen. Happy to be here.

Kellan Fluckiger

I'm excited to have you. You've got lots of really good stuff and I can't wait for you to share it with people. So I don't do a big intro. You're.Your coolness will come out in abundance as we talk. So why don't you tell people the first thing? I'd like you to really not be modest.Tell people how you choose to make a difference, to add good to the world. What is your heart mission in that area?

Gabriela Popescu

I choose to show people how to stay or how to become in a state of harmony by leading through actions. So I've been my own guinea pig over the last eight to nine years or so where I've tried any and all holistic methodology, psychology, neuro, linguistic programming, coaching, mentoring, all the tools that I could get my hands on and that I had the opportunity to test out and explore. And through that journey, I was able to come up with a framework that supports people into coming from chaos to harmony and into finding the joy, finding themselves, and discovering what it means to truly love oneself. Because I think we've talked about this before. There's a cycle, right? Our parents, our grandparents are not taught how to do that, and so they pass that on to us. And there's a lot of unlearning that needs to happen. And I've been doing that unlearning for quite some time. And I'm not saying that it's easy. However, if you break it down one step at a time, you'll be surprised of what you can create.

Kellan Fluckiger

Why do you suppose there's more to say on that and you'll get a chance to say more about it?Why do you suppose we have a world where grandparents pass stuff to parents, test to us, and the stuff that gets passed on isn't all bad, but you know, 85%, there's a few good things, but it seems like when we look back, or at least the things that stick with us are these negative things and negative beliefs in Programming, like how did we do that?

Gabriela Popescu

I think, you know, not necessarily the government, but government organizations and also corporations. They're great at marketing and programming and it's easy to fall into believing what they're selling and to give into that productivity mindset, that productivity needs to be at the top of the list and that you need to produce, produce, produce, do, do, do, and not so much be and be in a state of alignment. Take time, take rest for yourself. So then you can create something from your heart, create something that you're passionate about and that fills up your life.

Kellan Fluckiger

Do you think so? At least one of the big things is the. I'm going to just call it greed, but the emphasis on extracting the most possible value from each person. That means everybody's got to be busy doing some thing that is defined as productive until we run out of energy, we run out of space. And since we've been taught to measure our value and worth by those things, we end up working ourselves to death. Is that part of what you're saying?

Gabriela Popescu

Very accurate? Yes, 100%. That's exactly it. Yeah.We are taught to produce until there's nothing left, until we burn out, until our physical bodies crash, our mental bodies crash. And then we're left trying to figure out how to rebuild ourselves and how to heal ourselves. And so the framework that I have in my book is addressing the modern challenges and the programming while also helping you rehabilitate yourself to your own sovereignty.

Kellan Fluckiger

I love those words, modern programming. You're talking about things that are, I mean, the principles that you've talked about.Because I've had the opportunity to read it and you just mentioned the books. We'll get to that in a sec. But the principles that I know you talk about are timeless principles. But the way you talk about it is in the context of the current world, meaning the distractions and phones and 24 hour news cycles and on and on and on and on. And do you think that the speed at which we are doing things, which seems to be faster and faster and faster, makes things worse?

Gabriela Popescu

Oh, absolutely. And the constant, let's not forget, if you live, if you work in a corporate environment, even if you have your own business, the constant availability that you are subjected to or the requirements of you being available at all hours does not make being able to set time to be still, to nourish yourself emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually easy. And I believe that as a collective, the world is really programmed to be people pleasing, facing, and just to bend over to whatever our employers need and Want and put ourselves last. And I think that's to our detriment.

Kellan Fluckiger

You know, I'm old enough that I remember before the very. Before the first cell phones, you know, and they had car phones, but they were those great big unwieldy things. And then we had Motorola flip phones, right? And then everybody had to have one because they were cool. And I don't think we had any idea at the time the consequences. That was in the early 90s, I think, when those first started happening. And I bought one, and then I bought one for the woman I was married to at the time. And somehow they were, oh, if I have one, you have to have one.And. And then it was like, oh, well, how did we ever do without this? And what we've done is what you said, constant availability.Because before that, when you weren't in the house and you were driving somewhere, something nobody could reach you, you know, and you had that space, and now it's just expected. And that does put a whole layer of pressure on us to be that and to think that way and to feel that way, not only about our availability, but of knowing what's going on and seeing everything 3.7 seconds after it happens and all that stuff.

Gabriela Popescu

Yeah, I completely agree. And that that's where, you know, the power of boundaries comes in. And, you know, some people have a negative connotation when it comes to boundaries.Boundaries are not meant to bring up your walls. They're taught, they're meant. The intention there is meant for them to set the parameters on how people should win with you.And I think that's also something that people have been talking about it and from top, you could talk about it, but action is the most important, right? So applying it in a way that it's supportive both to you, your employer, your family, even your family, because sometimes your family expects you to respond right away. And if five minutes have passed, they're like, why haven't you responded?

Kellan Fluckiger

I can tell you here. I mean, we, Joy and I are old enough, you know, the 10 kids that we have, they're all grown up and married and long gone. But we have or had for three and a half years a Ukrainian mother and daughter for three and a half years after their war started. And she just moved out now to her own place about a month ago. And we have grandma who's 94 and blind and, you know, et cetera, et cetera. One of the things Joy talks about is the constant Joy. You know, somebody needs her all the time in the interruptions. And it Was just reminded me of that when you said it. And this week, you know, we.She took a week. She's gone to Las Vegas for a week. Not the party, there's a big publishing conference there. And I was thinking about that this morning in my own meditation about the. The value of that space is. And how we haven't.

Gabriela Popescu

We.

Kellan Fluckiger

We've treated boundaries as an inconvenience and they're not fair and okay if you need it. And the truth is they're healthy, they're right. And no is a complete sentence, you know? Absolutely.

Gabriela Popescu

And there's no need to. For a, you know, paragraph of explanation as to why not.

Kellan Fluckiger

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.I know somebody that says, you can completely depend on me not to do that, you know, and they, they're sincere and they're easy and they're not angry. And they say, you can depend on me not to. Not to be there, you know, in a certain thing. All right, well, that's a fabulous thing. That's just a small piece of this large framework that you have and your ability. So if I reflect back to you, what you teach is a person's obligation almost to themselves, the being that they are, to understand who they are, to create both healthy boundaries and a healthy space where they can acknowledge and develop and refresh the multiple parts of each person. You call them four bodies, and we'll talk about that in a minute. And that we need to do that to stay creative, healthy, whole, and happy. Am I Close?

Gabriela Popescu

Yes, 100% close.

Kellan Fluckiger

Okay, cool. So let's get into some of this doctrine that you teach, and I know you've got it in a book, and we'll talk about the release in a minute. What is the four bodies and how does that play into us as each individual?

Gabriela Popescu

Sure. So you have the physical body. I think of it as the foundation for everything you do.Because if you don't feel good, then it affects your mental capacity, your emotional capacity, and spiritual, for that matter. And so you have the physical, you have the emotional body, the mental body, and then also the spiritual body. And there's a trickle down effect, trickle down and trickle up effect. Because if one of them misfunctions, what you get is misalignment across the board. And so being able to feed each body is very important. And it doesn't take much. And that's what the framework that I created is supporting folks into doing.

Kellan Fluckiger

So it's interesting. You have the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. And we agree on that. You know, the morning routine that I have happens to use those very same spam, spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, in terms of preparation for the day.And it's easy for us to understand if my physical body, if I don't feel good, if I hurt, if I have a headache, you know, or something obvious like that, it's hard for me to get in the game in any part of life. Talk about maybe the other bodies, the mental and emotional especially. How does misalignment there show up?It's easy with the physical, you can see that. But talk about those others for a minute about how they also just as dramatically affect our happiness, relationships, productivity, or wherever you want to go with that.

Gabriela Popescu

Of course. Yeah. So the emotional body talks about the emotions, right. How are we feeling? Are we dealing with a loss? Is our boss extra critical? And we're taking that personal, that influences us deeply. And the easiest way to think about the emotional body and all the bodies really is to think of you are 100% responsible of how you feel and what you allow to affect you and what you allow not to, to affect you. So let's say that I am dealing with a very demanding boss that is crossing my boundaries. That's going to affect me emotionally and my mood is going to shift. I'm going to be dreading doing the work and overall that's going to trickle down into my mental, the mental body.It could be I have an overgrowth of negative thoughts and I keep replaying conversations. So overthinking and not being able to make a decision, decision fatigue could also come in.But we have this great ability of being our world's biggest critic where our negative self talk which is directed to is connected to the mental body can be extremely damaging to our overall well being. So if we take it personal, right.I believe that people's reactions and the way they interact is 100% reflection of how they feel about themselves and their own baggage and their own trauma and limiting beliefs and negativity and not a reflection of me. So. And if you don't have the boundaries, if you're not self aware of what you're creating in the mental body, it's easy to feed that negative critic. So does that answer your question?

Kellan Fluckiger

Yeah, yeah it does. And you said something really interesting. You said we're 100% responsible for the feelings that we have. You, I didn't say it exactly like you did, but you said something like that. And I, you know, I would bet that 90 million percent of people would disagree with you. And we reflected on our language when we say they made me mad. They made me this, you made me that. And, and we, we externalize all that stuff and we blame, you know, circumstances, government, people, economy, whatever it is, God, you know, whoever, you did this. And, and therefore I'm off the hook for how I feel, you know, And I want to talk a little bit more about that, because that is not a truth.I believe you and I accept that. But it's certainly not a truth that is widely held. And even if people say it, they don't mean it.In other words, they don't own that truth in how they react. So talk about that a little bit about how widespread that externalization is and how damaging.

Gabriela Popescu

Yeah, it's incredibly damaging. Because as a trauma survivor and just, you know, I was so angry for so long, right? And the way that I was looking at the world was the world is doing this to me. That person, like cut me off, this person abuse me, whatever. So what that happened, what that did, was I basically gave all my power away externally and I became the victim. And you know, the funny thing is the universe responds to your emotions. It responds to your energetic frequency. And so of course, what I got in return was more circumstances and instances where I was being a victim and I was experiencing all these negative stories and events. Once I took my power away and I decided that I get to create my universe and the way I live and who I let into my space, my life changed. And that's what I want for my readers and the people that I work with to fully grasp and understand. Because we are 100% in charge of our life. We are the architect of our life. And what we can create is amazing only if we, if we do it one step at a time. I'm not saying that people need to change their life overnight because that's not sustainable and it's not realistic and you're bound to fail. But one step at a time, it's 100% achievable.

Kellan Fluckiger

You know what's fun about that is we have these Harry Potter movies and those kinds of things where the idea is somehow there's this instantaneous ability to time turner or manufacture something. And we live in a download and double click world where somehow we think that everything should be solvable in the length of a TV sitcom or something like that, right? And the truth is, like what you said it takes, you know, in the picture behind me, all these trees, well, it took years for them to grow in that very house where behind that white car, that was the house I had in Phoenix. And we planted an orange Tree in the backyard. And of course, orange. Orange trees don't produce fruit the first year. And if I had gotten mad at the tree and said, stupid tree, and ripped it out, then the second and third year, all those other years, I wouldn't have had the grapefruit. And it was a beautiful tree and gave us really good fruit. Fruit. And that principle of patience and growth and one step at a time is so antithetical to everything that we. Again, going back to what you said, first production, now, yesterday, everything, you know, all that minute. And to learn to allow those things to.To manifest. And I know that's the woo woo word, but to create themselves, to manifest in their own due time.Somebody comes to you and they're all caught up in this right this minute, and nothing's happening the way I want to, and so I must suck. And, you know, whatever that story is. Where do you start with them?

Gabriela Popescu

I ask them to ground, to take a few deep breaths and just come back into their body because it's so easy to live in the mental. We as a western civilization, we're great. We are pros at living in the mental body. And there's three other bodies that you get to work with and collaborate with to bring you into harmony. So first step would be to ground them and ask them to breathe and just settle into the body. Then I would ask them to empty out. That's a term that coaches use where you keep asking the person, what else is the problem, what else is the problem? What else? Until there's nothing left. And then I ask them what needs to happen or what do they want to happen and come up with a solution.

Kellan Fluckiger

So that's cool. I love the fact that it always has to start with, slow down, slow down, let's get here. All here right now.Because when someone talks about that, they talk really fast. They say things that don't connect. You know, this and this and this. And they're talking about 27 things all at once. And in their mind, they're all connected. And as a listener, like, it's like a bowl of spaghetti, you know, all over the place. And so I love it. Slow down. And the grounding piece, I know, is specific. I was reading some stuff. I know I saw a Facebook ad about some frequency machine, and it was talking about all these different frequencies. You could buy this machine for a hundred bucks, something. I don't know. But one of them was about the frequency of the earth and the grounding and all that kind of thing that you're talking about. So let's get to this book that you've recently written. Tell us about what it is and why you decided to write it.

Gabriela Popescu

It's called from chaos to reclaim your sovereignty, from self betrayal to wholeness. Why I wrote it is because I see way too many women, immigrant, American, just women across the world, from all sorts of backgrounds, put themselves last and prioritize everyone else's health, well being ahead of their own. And they're the cornerstone of their communities, their families, they set the tone, they're the container for their group, for their tribe. And if they're suffering, then the community's suffering and there is a trickle down effect. And I think that by helping them harmonize and balance and get through and get rid of all those negative stories and limiting beliefs that they keep replaying in their mind that they're not enough, that it's too late for them, they're too broken, there's nothing that could help them. There is. And all I'm asking for them is to, to try it out, to listen and then to come with a fresh perspective, an open mind. One of my teachers and mentors starts every course with.Leave all the prior knowledge at the door and come here with an open mind, open perspective and heart to explore a different approach to how you've been doing things. And that's what I ask of my readers as well.So the first section of the book is me before this framework is me broken in victim mode, angry, disempowered. The second section is talking about the framework, how, how to do it, exercises that I'll take you through. And then the third section talks about success stories of clients I've worked with and more reinfor, more reinforcements. Yes, you can, you could change. And yes, this will work for you. And this is why.

Kellan Fluckiger

So I love it.And I've had the opportunity for the listeners, I have had the opportunity to read the book already and I found myself enjoying the explanations and the exercises and I teach all kinds of stuff myself. And yet I found myself taking notes and saying this is really good, and being caught up not only in the story, but the application and the framework. And so I say that because you didn't. So I'll just turn this into a question. You didn't fall up this mountain. So this is a, this is a journey of your own growth, of climbing. And I say fall up this mountain because nobody falls up a mountain. Right? So. So there's two parts to this. One is you, you've.You've chronicled your own healing and your own journey and you mentioned at the beginning you've been your own guinea pig on trying all kinds of different things. What is it that brought it into Gabriella's heart to be so important to help others?I mean, you did the work and you're still doing work and fix, if that's the right word, empowered and healed yourself and so forth. And having a passion or compassion and passion to help other people is a whole different thing. How did that happen?

Gabriela Popescu

I didn't do it alone. I had a lot of support. I had a lot of mentors, teachers, friends, guides, spiritual guides. And I think no one can do it alone. And I feel like this book will be a great companion for women that are ready to change and shift and even men, really. There's a lot of applications that I think will work just as great for men as well. It's a great resource for you to walk.I'm walking alongside you, right? The. I'm not perfect. I'm not saying I am. And I think that healing is a perpetual spiraling up.So as you heal, more things come to the surface that haven't had the courage to come up yet. And that's a. It's a journey. It's not a destination. It takes a lifetime. However, you too can benefit from the tools and from all the release practices.I propose to get there quicker and to actually start enjoying your life, loving your life and feeling like you're listening to yourself more and more.Because what a lot of women, me, myself included, have done in the past is bypass my intuition, bypass what my inner child wanted, bypass everything that really was important to me for the sole purpose of people pleasing or showing value. Like you said earlier, you know, I.

Kellan Fluckiger

I just want to emphasize for the listeners and she has written from her own experience, specifically for women who are devaluing themselves accidentally by thinking they have to put everybody first and bleed all over the place and before they take care of themselves and all the rest of. But as a man, I found this also very valuable, as I mentioned, and would. Would agree wholeheartedly with how she's explained that. And the, the, you know, you said something really important. Life can be a joyful journey. The fact that we are there is no there there. What you've described is a way of living so that life is fun and joyful. And if you find yourself in a difficult place or with a difficult reaction or person or situation, you're now equipped with tools and processes to manage it well and return to the joyful journey that is life. It's not like Okay, I gotta do all this stuff and fix all this busted stuff and someday I'll be happy down the road. It's not that at all. It's like I'm happy now. So I have a fundamental question here.It feels as you describe this, like there's a foundation piece that's really important and I'm going to talk about it specifically. And that's learning to love yourself. How important is that in what you share?

Gabriela Popescu

It's everything. It's like you said, the foundation, it's the 101 that I think people miss in this race. Right. Instant gratification society that we live in. Right. There's a lot of memes out there that show two sections. One is a lifestyle change and the other one is the pill. And you see they have, you know, 20 people in the line for the pill and only one person in the line for the lifestyle change. And unfortunately, the pill is a placebo effect, it's a band aid. It doesn't really help you.So if you're just using, let's say you're using a frequency machine, because I do use a frequency machine to support my holistic healing. And in itself, if you're just using that machine and you're eating crap, you're drinking, you're just constantly in a negative environment. You're not going to get long lasting results. It may help you feel a little bit better, but long term you're still going to be in the same place. So by making sure that you're looking at all those four bodies and really taking ownership of your life because no one else will do it for you. You're the creator.

Kellan Fluckiger

So isn't that wonderful? Yeah. And I say wonderful because it doesn't matter what you think is wrong with your life. The ability to fix it's in your hands. It actually doesn't depend on anybody else or anything else. And that's what I've heard. And it is the foundation of self love. And we've been infected with this disease that some externality, some new book program, pill idea, quick fix, is somehow going to fix it for us. And the truth is, nobody's coming. Right?

Gabriela Popescu

No one's coming to save you.

Kellan Fluckiger

No, nobody's coming.

Gabriela Popescu

You're the one that has the power to save yourself.

Kellan Fluckiger

So over your right shoulder there's this beautiful picture. And I recognize it because I've seen your book. But I want you to walk us through your framework in any way that you think is, to whatever depth you want to, to talk about what you have learned. What you practice yourself and what you now share with others, of course.

Gabriela Popescu

So step number one is the Source connection, and that deals with the spiritual body.I believe that especially for people that are dealing with trauma right now, that they're either looking to step away or they're in the process of stepping away, having a connection with God, Source, whatever you want to call it, the earth mother, Gaia, she's her own living organism that supports our day and our life every moment, whichever that works for you. It's incredibly nourishing and supporting, supportive to be able to have that connection. And for me, it started early on in my life.I was going to church. I was in an Eastern Greek, Eastern Orthodox Church community, and that in itself traumatized me.It traumatized me because there was this rule and underlying messaging around it that God is all punishing and that you have to follow all these rules, and if you don't, you're going to hell. And I didn't like that. It was a God that I feared. And so for a long time, I stepped away from religion and spirituality, and I just said, no, no, thank you. I'm not interested. And then, you know, as I started my own development, I discovered energy, work, Reiki. That was my gateway for me.And it was so loving and nourishing to be able to have that connection, because my connection with my mom and my relationship with my mom at that time was not great. And that was of my own doing. And I was kind of alone. Right. And so by being able to connect with Source and Archangel Michael and all these amazing spiritual teachers, it was incredibly supportive. And so when I say I didn't do it alone, I didn't do it alone because I had that support spiritually, but then also with physical people like mentors and teachers. And I think if you can find something that resonates with you, then yet you could connect to and call on for help or support, the journey will be much, much easier. So that's the Source connection.

Kellan Fluckiger

Own it.

Gabriela Popescu

Own it. Yes. Thank you.

Kellan Fluckiger

Yes. So you will. Well, it's easy for me because it's right there on the.

Gabriela Popescu

It's right there. I want to continue talking about the source.

Kellan Fluckiger

Yeah. Soul. Yes. S O U L. Soul. All right. Own it.

Gabriela Popescu

Own it. Taking radical responsibility of your life. And that starts with taking inventory of what you put in your body, in your physical body, and also in your mental body. What? What are you listening to? Who are you listening to?Because, you know, the media, the mass media, the general whatever is out there playing on your grandpa's TV or on @ work or wherever in whatever social environment you are. It's 95% negative. There's no positive news like that. You have to search for that. And so what are you putting into your mind and into your body?Taking an inventory, taking stock. For a while, I used to compare myself to a lot of Instagram influencers. And later on, I discovered that all of those photo shoots were actually altered. They're using different enhancements from photography to padding and so on and so forth. So what are you allowing into your consciousness? Right, What. What are you allowing into your consciousness? And also take a look at the people that are around you. If you're surrounded by negative people, chances are you will have the same mentality. And the world is. The mentality of the world is a dark place. The world is going to end. And all of those things that are not true, really, I love that.

Kellan Fluckiger

You said not true, because they're actually not true. And they're designed to push us in a certain direction, to think this, buy this, vote this way, whatever it is. And it's certainly not around your.

Gabriela Popescu

Benefit. No, it's not. And by listening to all those things, you're making yourself sick.Because the mental, if you're constantly thinking about that, it's going to trickle down and up and up and down. It's both trickling down and trickling up. So that's step.

Kellan Fluckiger

Two. Cool. And how do I.

Gabriela Popescu

Unlock step three? Unlocking. How do you unlock. There's quite a few exercises and methodologies I have in my book, but it starts simple.Taking an inventory of all the stories that you tell yourself and then really taking them apart and reflecting. Is this something that I was taught to believe or is it true? And then deciding keyword, deciding what you want to believe and how you want to move forward. And then there's love embodied. And that talks about the power of manifestation, forgiveness, self forgiveness. Most importantly, because I think, as in my journey, I've done all the forgiving of the people that harmed me and that wronged me. And even as I was writing this book, I. I had the opportunity to forgive myself because I try to kill myself twice. So I never actually processed that. So I'm. I'm really grateful for having that opportunity. While writing this book, you're constantly healing and spiraling up, and that's forgiving yourself is. I think it's the ultimate act of healing. And it could feel so wonderful. And, you know, the world, the. The weight of the world just melts off of you. It's A different.

Kellan Fluckiger

Experience. I just have to. I couldn't agree with you more. I. Those of you that have listened to many episodes know lots of things about my story. But one of the most important and difficult things for me, given all the stuff that happened to me or that I did do or didn't do, was that self forgiveness piece. Because like you, I had attempted to end my life a couple times. And I did it because I believed all the story was too late. And everybody said it was, everything was my fault. And yes, yes, yes, yes. And the forgiving self, I just, when you said that, I just again resonate with that so strongly. It's true. And forgiving others or yourself, it doesn't mean excusing your behavior. And that took me a long time to get over that. I thought, well, I've done all these things, I can't fix them. And the answer is that's right, I can't fix them. And so the answer is really simple. I do what I can. Which isn't very much in the context of emotional pain and that kind of stuff. You know, if I took something, I give it back. Okay, but you do what you can. And the most important thing for me was change who you are. Because if I did xyz do what I can to fix it.Change who I am. And then I use the phrase add good to the world. Like go do good stuff. Right? And besides that, what else is there? So that self forgiveness and your use of the phrase love embodied, like what would it be like if every person lived in a place where you could just be around them and know that they were just operating on the fuel of building and loving and forgiveness and kindness and so forth instead of on all the stuff that we are constantly exposed to. So I like.

Gabriela Popescu

That. Yeah, it would be incredible. And really that's my North Star.I wish for everyone to be free of their baggage and stories to, to co create a beautiful world where we support each other and love each other and grow.

Kellan Fluckiger

Together. And you know, we all say that kind of gooey woo woo stuff, but the truth is it's not impossible. And the only way to get there is to one at a time like, I can't fix anybody else. I can't. I can only do me and I can encourage somebody else. And you have by writing this book and creating these programs. And that's all we can do is be the example and then share and encourage. So tell us, tell everybody where they can find more about you.Where's the place that if they've heard this, and they want to know, you know, when the book's out, which is shortly, and when the programs are out, and how to find out more about you and what you do and what you offer. How can people do.

Gabriela Popescu
