The Best Networkers Aren’t Looking for What They Can Get. They’re Looking for Who They Can Serve

Most people don't actually network. They collect contacts, chase opportunities, pitch their services, and quietly calculate what every relationship might be worth to them. They call it connection, but underneath it is a transaction. What if that's exactly why so many relationships never become meaningful? What if the real power of networking has nothing to do with what someone can do for you and everything to do with how intentionally you serve them? In this conversation, Steve Ramona challenges the way people approach relationships, business, and opportunity. His message is simple: ask, shut up, listen, and serve before you sell. Because the moment you stop treating people like transactions, you create the possibility of transforming lives.

Key Takeaways:

  • Steve Ramona's philosophy of living and working with a servant's heart.
  • The ASLA principle: Ask, Shut up, Listen, and Ask.
  • Why genuine listening requires presence, not merely silence.
  • The difference between transformational and transactional relationships.
  • Why serving before selling creates stronger business relationships.
  • How to continue helping someone even after they say no to your product or service.
  • Why refusing help can unintentionally turn someone else's generosity into a one-sided exchange.
  • How receiving support allows others to contribute to your mission.
  • Why remembering and using people's names can strengthen relationships.
  • How podcasting can become a powerful form of networking and service.
  • The importance of understanding people's needs, challenges, and pain points before offering solutions.
  • Why service does not require money or a large investment of time.
  • How small acts of kindness can create meaningful ripple effects.
  • Why you should remove the scoreboard and stop measuring the value of every act of service by its outcome.
  • The importance of being intentional, present, and committed to learning every day.

Kellan Fluckiger

Hello there, and welcome to your ultimate life. The power podcasts that I created to help you live a life of purpose, prosperity, and joy by creating and serving with your gifts, your talents, and your life experience.I'm glad and excited today to have Steve Ramona as my guest.Steve, welcome to the show.

Steve Ramona

Thank you, Kellen.Appreciate you having me.

Kellan Fluckiger

You betcha. So this is.This is the first time we've talked face to face like this, but I know something about you, and we had a little convo before we started, but I like to ask a question, so without being modest, so you have permission to just tell the truth.I like to ask, how.How is Steve Ramona choosing to add good to the world?

Steve Ramona

Every day I wake up, every opportunity I have to impact somebody. It could be a small impact or it could be a massive impact, and it just brings me joy.I use this image that people get Christmas morning when we're six, seven, eight years old. What was that feeling like when you ran to that Christmas tree and you open that gift? You probably knew what it was.Doesn't matter when you open it.It's the highest of joy that we have as a kid.I believe I get to do that every day.And you out there listening, have the opportunity to do that every day as well. It's going to look different for everybody. For me, I know what that is.I. I have a principle.I call it the ASLA principle.Asla.I ask, I shut up, I listen, and I ask so I can learn, Kellen, what people are about.Like, you asked me a question before the show.Very, very good question. We don't do that enough anymore in this world. We're always shouting out noise, noise.Let's just be quiet, shut up, and listen to what people are telling us.

Kellan Fluckiger

I love that.Thank you for saying that.Thank you for that approach.Listening is such a.A lost art.And I don't mean just silence.I mean the truth of listening to.To.To share an experience as opposed to just hear the words or even understand, but deeper than that.So we might come back to listening as we go along here. But I want to get to a place like, you didn't fall up this mountain, right? There's no.Nobody falls up a mountain. And so you're in a place right now where you you're asla. You know, your, your principle there and your desire. You told me that you've got more than one podcast. And a podcast is a labor of love. There's a lot of work that goes into it and a lot of sharing and it's for a purpose and all that sort of thing. But the question that I have is what, like, how did you get here to where this is who Steve is, so that you're the person that I'm talking to today over the.Give me some of it at least. How did you get here?

Steve Ramona

18 Years old, my family launched a health club and my dad, my uncle and my cousin were part of it.And my cousin came to me after high school, summertime, I needed a job, needed money, want to take girls out, want to go out, my buddies. So I started working the front desk.22 Years later, I was still there.Became a director, a manager, operations director, whatever.I'm not big on labels, but I ran the club in certain aspects. But what I learned at 18, 19, 20, people, 40, 50, 60 were coming in, very successful.Little nervous talking to them, but we taught our staff and my cousin Jeff, Shout out was so wonderful.Always say people's names. They go, well, how do I remember a name? You have a screen in front of you. When they slide their card in, it pops up their name.Just use that till you get to know them. And I realized 19, 20 and 18, 19, 20, 30, these 40 year olds became friends, giving me tips, giving me resources, taking me out to lunch next door in a restaurant, want to meet for dinner, want to go out. Some became really good friends and my network grew.I didn't realize it 18, 19 and 20, but I realized the power of the network of impacting people.Being kind and nice, being positive around people that people that are much more successful than you are willing to want to work with you, are willing to want to help you and support you.I'd say once a week, couple, hey, what are you working on, Steve? How can I help you?I'm like, wow, this is great. It was just being kind.

Kellan Fluckiger

Of so.Being kind as a, as a principle, let's just set that as a big one for a minute. What is.What is in your heart?I want to go a layer deeper here. What is in Steve's heart that makes it important to help other people succeed?Like why you are successful? You're doing some things, you make some money, you have a living, this and that and the other.I'm curious, what is it that makes it important for you inside to be of service.I know one of the podcasts you told me you have is Business with a servant's Heart. Why is that important to you?

Steve Ramona

It makes me feel good.It gives me the ability to believe in humans. There's so much noise and I mentioned that.So much going on in the world.I talked to so many people with fear.I don't know if I can do this.I'm not sure I can do this.I can't do this. There's so much I can't, I shouldn't in the world.I can change that. And I've got email on top of email from people that would jump on a call with me, hey, somebody told me I need to meet with you, Steve.Get to know them.Do the ask the principal. And 45 minutes, I'm mentoring them in their business. And like, oh, my God, I didn't expect this.Thank you.Where'd this come from?Because I have joy in that.I enjoy seeing people get and send me an email or months later go, hey, I followed some of the things you mentioned. They worked. My business is growing.I'm.I'm happy or whatever it may be.From a business standpoint, Kellen, it's unique. It's a unicorn.I thought everybody was doing and oh my God, I'm learning they're not.So from a business standpoint, a little selfish. When I do that, it helps me and my brand like we talked about before the show.So there are some selling people like, you just give out your time all the time.I said, well, there's a business aspect to that as well, and that's, you know, networking how to network properly,.

Kellan Fluckiger

You know, as a principle B and I givers gain, you know, that whole thing there in that. And then there's the go giver. And you know that those principles codified in books and organizations that people have, have written. And you know what? When you say, you know, there's a little selfish business reason, you know, there's absolutely a, that's good.Sometimes people act like, well, you know, there's a little self.So what?Like, if you're going to add good to the world in any significant measure, you have to have access to resources.Like if you have no resources or they're limited, you could do all the good you can do, but it's going to be in a little bubble over here and allowing two things. One, it allows you to expand. And two, you allow people to express gratitude by.By supplying you with resources.Maybe it's money, maybe it's time, maybe it's connections, all kinds of things that allow the movement, whatever it is, to go forward.

Steve Ramona

Yeah. And I gotta tell you, Kelvin, I love what you're saying. And I had to learn this.My first 15 years, I would serve and give and give, and people will come ask me, because when you give and I get it all the time, how can I help you?How can I support you, whatever way they put it?And I used to go, five years ago, I literally put my hand up.If you're watching this, I'm putting my hand up like, hey, Kellen, I'm good.Enjoy those introductions.I know some of those people can help you.And I met Tony, and when I met Tony for the first time, jumped in a meeting to get to know each other, and he just seemed like a guy very successful.I don't ask, but I had to ask Tony, what's your revenue a year with your company? He's going, quarter of a billion dollars.I'm like, wow, what's your secret sauce? He said, I wake up serving.I go to bed serving.I serve my competitors, prospects, clients, employees across the board.Everybody meet.I try to serve to the best of my capabilities. But I showed him what I did, what I just did with you, Karen. And it was an audience. Please listen to this.Because it changed my life in multiple ways.He said, one, don't put your hand up, because that's the stop sign.People are gonna, you know, stop.Don't never do that. But two, he said, if somebody. If you give them gifts, like an introduction, resource, or tip, like you said, and they ask you, how can I help you?And you go, I'm good. No, thank you. They're not walking away going, oh, God, Steve's an A hole. That's the conscious. We get a little spiritual here. The subconscious goes. They just turned me into a taker.I took these three incredible introductions, and will they remember you a week later?Because the subconscious blocks that out.Like, I don't know if I really trust this guy once I change my mindset with that. And I've always got something I need help with.My business and life flourished.

Kellan Fluckiger

I love that. And I'm going to underline it.Underline it, underline it.Because I used to do the same thing.I didn't put my hand up, but I was quick to say, you know, I don't.I don't need anything. And that may or may not be true.I don't need anything. But when they're asking that, they're not asking, what do you need? They're saying, how can I help you? Now?I have a goal.My goal is to reach 300 million people with a message.WIPOs, Worth, Identity, Possibility, ownership, sovereignty. So when people ask that, now I tell them my vision.I'm opening a university. So I tell them two or three things, and I say, that's what I want.I want guests, I want introductions.I want people that, you know, that fit into my book writing program, because I help people write and publish books and get bestsellers and create products and services. So I am no longer at all shy about saying, well, this is what I'm doing and this would help.So I'm agreeing with you and I'm encouraging people who have the disease that think that service and giving is somehow spiritual. And you contaminate it by asking for something. You're wrong. You're blunting your impact, and you're shutting it down.Would you agree with that, or am I.Am I out to lunch?

Steve Ramona

Absolutely.I did.I'm going to talk numbers here.$100 Million in partnerships with people together made $10,000.Now, there's no judgment on the money I made, but I.Because I never asked. It's a very passionate part of me.And here's, you know, counted audience.Listen to this.Find something that you like. You did.I was.My university is why I have my podcast.I have a community.I do.I have places when people ask me that. And here, can you share out my community?Build something. And that's why I love podcasting, because that's exactly what I did for the last three years. How can I. I believe we're podcast guests. This is what I'm looking for.And oh, my gosh, it's because if you don't have anything, Kellen. And I didn't.I didn't have any of my.I don't really have anything, because I didn't.But I built a community.I built a podcast just for that. You just said. And it's powerful.

Kellan Fluckiger

I love that.So I want you to talk about. You said you had three podcasts.Tell us all about each one, how to find them and why you have them and what they do that are different. So tell us about that so people can understand what you're up to in the world.

Steve Ramona

Yeah.Doing business with a servant's heart came from my service. And the.The nucleus of that was my clients.I was part of a digital business card company, part owner, and I wanted to give my clients more exposure.I wanted to serve them more. And on a side note, when I teach people we people are serving all the time, like they're selling all the time. But try to serve at the next level and to use an image. If you're serving that chin level, it's good.I want you to keep doing that. But you want to be better, you want to go to that nose level. And that's what.Because I was serving my clients, following up, helping them, you know, the great customer service when I started the podcast was able to even promote their business. Now I flourished.I grew so fast.So that October 1st of 2022, which is exactly four years to this day, I started doing that. And I've always kind of wanted to do that.Never interviewed people, but I just thought it was pretty cool. And then as I'm going and you know, I'm almost 1200 episodes and guests came to me last year, two guests said, hey man, I love how you podcast. Will you co host with me now?We talked before the show, I was the same as you, I'm pretty busy.So I said I'll do that if you have a team that can manage all that.Because I got to manage my own and my own projects I have and they more willing to do that.So my other, one of the other podcasts is Stories across the Table with my co host, Bridget Cook Burch. And Bridget's just wonderful because she loves transformational stories and we've had a number of guest near death experiences, you know, heroin addict to turn into a CEO and multiple different levels of stories. And then the last one is Chris Rushing, my co host, wanted to launch a faith podcast. We have men walking in faith and purpose, how faith in their life has changed their life or kept them going to do what they're doing. And it's just been a blessing because I teach networking properly and narrowing groups are good. The PNI you mentioned, those are good. But the podcast as you know as a host is another level when it comes to networking because it's just me and the guest.I get to learn more about them than these other networking groups.

Kellan Fluckiger

I love that.I love that. And you're, you're a hundred percent right. And I want you to, you said you teach networking and I'd like to just go down that road for a minute. Thanks for sharing the podcasts names and purposes with you and guess I'll go listen to them like you've got a guy here that's serving his butt off with a servant's heart and believes in that giving principle. And I can tell already, as he's done so far, he's giving everything he's got. It's not like, okay, I'm going to give you a little couple things.I'm going to keep the good stuff in my pocket. That ain't happening here.So listen. And now I'm going to ask him something else. When you think about and teach networking, tell us two, one, two or three things that are just super important and maybe so dead simple that people either overlook them or go, yeah, yeah, yeah, but where's the secret kind of stuff?Give us a couple of those.

Steve Ramona

The ASLA principle won't go over it, but that's the first one.You follow that. And I'm gonna go back to that real quick because you mentioned about silence. There's difference.People laugh when I say, shut up and listen.Because let's go to a zoom room. You've been in them.I know, audience. You've been in them since COVID We're on them all the time. And people screen go black and it's their logo or their picture.I'm not judging here, because maybe they went to the bathroom, maybe the door rang or somebody came in there off, but they've shut up.But are they really listening?Probably not.And that's including me.I ran to the bathroom to a meeting two weeks ago.I didn't hear what the guy said.I had to ask again, but, you know, nature called the calls. That's what I mean by shut up and listening.Be present in front of people. The other one is I live and die by.It's three simple words.Transformational, not transactional.People like, oh, my God.You get a transaction.Absolutely you are.But what's the first piece of energy you're bringing to the table?Hey, Kellen, you got a podcast.I can help you do more.I've just met you just 50 minutes ago, 40 minutes ago.Transform people.I'm doing today, I'm going to try to be the best guest, give you the best resources for your audience. So think audience. And if you got to put it on your computer screen, put it on there, type it out.Transformational, not transactional.Every single interaction, personal and professional. And the last thing is serving, serving before selling. It's similar to the other one, but when it comes to selling, when you sell, because you're eventually going to want to sell if there's a connection. How in the heck are you going to sell somebody if you know nothing about what they do, what they need, what their pain points are?And that goes back to the principle. You start listening to people. You can do that. And here's another thing. When you're selling people and you offer somebody your service or product and they say no, that's a tough conversation. We've all been in them.I've been, you know, I don't want to say no, this guy's great guy, but I can't use it.Here's what you do if you're selling something. This is transformational after transactional.I just saw that. It's pretty good. The person says no.Well, if you use the ASLA principle, you learn some things they needed. So Joe Smith says no to me.I can't be part of your community for whatever reason. They say, joe, that's no problem.Maybe we can follow up in a few months. But you mentioned something about this. Here's a resource I think will help grow your business. That never happens after a no on a sale. What am I doing?I'm now going from chin to nose level serving.Even though I'm not getting a sale, and I may never get a sale, I've left that relation or left that meeting with a better relationship. And that's the other idea.Build relationships, whatever that looks like to you.And I can help more with doing that. But that's what we're doing now.If it's not a connection and it's not, the energy's not lined, you're not going to build a relationship. You shake virtual hands and move on and still try to help them.

Kellan Fluckiger

I want to slow this down just a minute, because those principles you said are key, and I urge listeners, just slow down and listen to that.Because we all know, no matter what your view of Divine is, we all know there's more to us than a skin bag. There's a separate part of us.There's an energetic or spiritual part, whatever you call that.We are literally built to love and serve each other. And everything that you just described is that thing. We feel better if you say transformational before transactional and transformational afterwards. You know what your main directive is that I just heard you teach is leave a person more served, more loved and happier one rung up the ladder of consciousness. No matter what took place in the conversation, you know that is this. That is the real opportunity, and it isn't a game.I could tell by the passion that you described that with this is not a game.It is who you are.So you have decided that. And I've never met you in real life, but I have absolutely no doubt that the dude that I'm seeing on the screen is the same dude in real life, like it's not a jacket. And so if you decide, not you, but you listeners, if you decide that you're going to be this service oriented, like Steve just taught you how to make a million dollars in your business, period.End, finish conversation. If you did nothing but what he told you, assuming you have a product that's worth something, you can make a million bucks. And I'm not even exaggerating or pulling that number out of my ear because it is, as you observed earlier, so rare that people are building relationships dedicated to service first and service afterwards, whether the timing or the match is right or not.So I just wanted to say that because what you taught about listening, which is not just silence, is just super valuable. And so I thank you for sharing all that. And it is transformational, listeners, if you choose to let it, to let it affect you that way.So as I say all that about who you're being, please go for it.

Steve Ramona

I'm just going to add to it the other lesson that I've learned. When you're in service, you're going to say no.So many business owners keep partners, keep employees, keep people, because, oh, Kellen's been there for 10 years, you know, Tony's been a friend of mine for five years, you know, I mean, we're going to make it work. Here's the thing people don't realize. When you've got an employee, we'll use that scenario. And it's just not fitting. You're going to sit down with an employee and tell them, this position's not a fit, be prepared for that. And you tell them, but you know what?HR is not good for you.But I think you'd be fantastic in his admin.Let's try that.Or go even deeper. You have to let them go.By the way, Tony, I've talked to my friend Jim here.He might have a position for you.So I'll give you his number. You can set up an interview. It's like selling, I was saying before, it's taking those tough conversations and using service to walking away with a hug instead of urina or them walking out the door. This is bull crap, because we do that way too much.So really embrace that all.

Kellan Fluckiger

I love that and I want, I want to explore.So.So we live in a world that you observed earlier that is completely different from that. The large percentage, 80, 90, 99.It depends on how you know what's happened to you in the last day or week. What's in it for me, you know, WIIFM or Everybody's out to get me or the universe is conspiring against me or some version of that. What does it take?So let's say somebody's listening to you teach here, and they say, you know what? That really feels right. And I don't freaking know how to do that. What do they do to start?Because they're going to hear this show and then they're going to say, oh, yeah, and then hang up or turn it off or go do something else.Or it's Wednesday morning, and then the emails come like, what? What do they do?

Steve Ramona

It's brilliant.Question and audience, I hope you're listening to his show because this is I'm learning stuff.Be intentional. And if you want a guideline or a framework, today's Thursday. You know, you listen to this on a Saturday, start Monday.Every person that you meet, be intentional in service. And an easy way to do that. When you're going out with people with name tags, say their name three times.Hey, Jim, how you doing today?Hey, Jim, thank you for the service.Hey, Jim, have a great day.If they don't have a name tag, ask them, by the way, what's your name?Oh, it's Robin. And follow that.Do that with everybody. And then when you can slip in a resource, a tip, an introduction, do that. But be intentional with every conversation that you have, personal and professional. And it could be as little as at church two weeks ago. This lady had this beautiful baby with a little bow, and I'm a 49er fan and had a 49er fan.I'm like, oh, we got another 49er fan.How cute.Well, she smiled and you went back and called, you said, talked about games. This is not a game. This is not a scoreboard.Take that out of your head.If I have impacted her for five seconds, five minutes, five hours, or five months, I still made the impact. The scoreboard of how long that is, the outcome does not matter.Too many people I talk about, well, I want to leave a lasting impression.Five seconds could be a lasting impression. So be intentional.

Kellan Fluckiger

All right, so your challenge right now, listeners, is to take that.If this has inspired you about learning to serve, if it's inspired you about having it be just who you are instead of something you do.And when Steve says be intentional, just do that in every conversation, personal and professional.Say the name and figure out how to help someone or serve them, even if it's being friendly, even if it's saying their name.People love that sound, that sound of their own name. They love being Thanked. And that doesn't happen anywhere near enough in our world and universe, because right now, we live in this poison. So try it before you dismiss it and say, try it, because I promise you two things. You're going to feel better and people are going to remember you differently than if you didn't.And that's a promise, period.Take it to the bank.

Steve Ramona

Yeah. And I'll add to this audience. If you're struggling with the hearing, the listening, and some people do, well, guess what?God gave us two eyes.So be observant. When you're at a store and the lady's trying to grab the can from the top shelf or somebody's trying to do it, just look where people need help and walk up an offer. That's the flip side of it.And both. You're going to see one of those. You're going to hear something or see something where there's going to be able to see your service. And when you help somebody with. With the eyes, say their name by the name. What's your name?I'd stay with an older lady helping with their groceries.Oh, my name's Joanne.Joanne wants to play. You have a wonderful day, Joanne. It takes the conversation even deeper, and I love that you keep mentioning that. And it would have been fine to say, hey, have a great day, you know, thank you.But when you.Because that's our gift is our names. And when you use somebody's name by asking because you don't know it and then use it.Oh, oh, Kellen.Oh, my gosh.Talk about service and impact. It goes to the next level, and I'll go back to it.Our name is our identity, which you've talked about a lot on this show, is what is your identity?

Kellan Fluckiger

So I want you to tell a story, and the story I want you to think about.I'm going to talk for a sec, so you have at least 27 seconds to think about it.I want you to tell a story about someone that you. That you know, that you've worked with or that you have impacted that was unexpected for you, where there was something that happened, perhaps casually, perhaps whatever, and.And there was an unexpected consequence for you.And the reason I'm asking is because I love to hear you tell the story, but the other reason is I want people to understand that this truth of love, the podcast, is your ultimate life. When you and I were talking ahead of time, we greeted each other. You said, I'm just as happy as I can be.And you could say that and be blowing smoke, but I knew that it was true because truth carries its own energy. So I had no doubt in my mind that Steve Ramona was speaking truth and not blowing smoke. So tell us a story about some unexpected thing that sticks in your mind.

Steve Ramona

I'm gonna give two lessons here, audience, so pay attention. One, people ask me all the time, how do you serve all the time when you're having a bad day?Well, service is the.Is the ultimate change of a bad day.You said it earlier, the joy you get when you're helping people. So I tell entrepreneurs and business owners I work with, with things aren't going right, go out and serve, whatever that looks like.So taking that one day, two people didn't show up, couldn't get a contract signed. It's three weeks late.Pretty significant contract.I was bummed. It was 2 o' clock in the afternoon.I don't leave the office because I love impacting people. If I'm in my office, I'm impacting. But I followed my own advice and I went to the grocery store to get groceries for me and my wife. And I'm standing in line.I've again got this spiritual thought in my head.I'm going to help this lady with a baby. And I'm in California, and the clerk's got long hair, looks like a surfer guy.And I said, hey, you know, before she pays her grocery, here's my credit card. Can you buy her groceries? And he's going, dude, dude, what are you doing? You don't do that.I'm laughing.I said, just let me do it.So I did pay for my groceries, and I walked out.And she's like, wow, you.You know, I don't know why you did that.I said again, I really having a good day.I want to help somebody. She starts tearing up.Now I get a little concerned because I thought, you know, maybe I felt her uncomfortable. And she says, no, no, no, no, no, Steve.By the way, I asked her name was Debbie. She goes, steve, that's not the case.My husband last week lost his job. We're flat out broke.I didn't know how we were going to buy these diapers and formula for our baby. We're maxing out everything just to be able to live. You gave us another week of 4 million babies for us to get a chance to find another job.Now people go, man, that's a great thing you did.But here's the lesson one, I had no idea.I never saw her again.I didn't know who she was, so I didn't Know the shoes she's walking in.But me taking the action of doing that was powerful. But here's the biggest lesson of all.Kellen, what do you think Debbie did when she got home and saw her husband?

Kellan Fluckiger

Oh, she would have talked about it depends on who she is, but probably talked about the blessing, the amazing blessing that they got for this thing from some weird stranger, that angel that came down to solve this problem. And then I'll bet she thought about how to help somebody else.

Steve Ramona

Man, we're so much aligned. And that's the biggest lesson, because that's impact. Now, I made the impact with the, you know, buying the groceries, but the larger impact is, wow, yeah, we're down and out right now.But I guarantee if they did take action, their life started changing because they started impacting others. No matter what their situation is transformational, not transactional was more important to them.

Kellan Fluckiger

You know what? You also impacted that surfer dude. And you don't know how and you don't know when, but he'll go tell that story, too.

Steve Ramona

Yes, very good point.I missed that one. That's a good one.

Kellan Fluckiger

Okay, so there's a.There's a thing that you talked about there that I want to emphasize. And I know you said you had two stories, but two things happened. One, you made a choice.I'm going to go serve. So I teach a principle called notice and choose, and that is the transformational key to anything. So you noticed you were not feeling good. You made a choice to take an action, to do something about it.When you got to the store, you noticed that you had an impression to help that lady, and you chose to listen instead of discount or worry about what might happen. And so that thing right there talks about inspiration, intuition.Call it whatever you want.Everybody has it.And learning to listen and trust that action is, to me, at least one of the gigantic keys to both joy and.And success, including cash. What do you think about that?

Steve Ramona

I say all the time when you do stuff, and if she said, no, no, no, thank you.Was really adamant, I wouldn't have done it.But she did say no.But then she said, you know, okay. She allowed me to do that. That's okay, too.Just taking the action of doing something is so powerful, but people are so indecisive. And you.I loved how you said that.Well, what's the outcome? To me?Outcome is next, if you go talk to somebody about your business partner service, and you're listening to this, and somebody goes, no, I'm not interested.I don't say this out loud, but in my head, next person I can transform and become transactional if that happens. We were so tied to outcomes with people like, I've got to be the best on this podcast, and I will be the best on the podcast, by the way. It's a great podcast, but what happens in the outcome, we have no control except for what we could do right now.Being present right now with the energy that we have. And the noise out there in the world is, you gotta be biz, you gotta be this, you gotta.Outcomes important. You didn't, you know. No, it's not.Because it'll take care of itself.I always tell people when my own entrepreneurs come to me, Kel, and they go, I love this serving part, but I'm broke.Well, dude, I'm.I was a hundred thousand in debt three years ago.I was broke.I served. It doesn't cost you money, it costs you time, but it's very little time.It could be seconds or minutes to how, when, or where this service happens again.I'll go back to the scoreboard.Take the freaking scoreboard off your mindset. You just do it and let I believe in God, or your universal energy will take care of you.And I've had it happen to me multiple times because a lot of times you won't see it.But a real quick story.I was at a chiropractor, and this is the power of serving.Know my chiropractor 15 years, loves me.He knows I'm an entrepreneurial mentor.I love helping people. And this guy, he goes, hey, why don't you talk to my friend here, Steve, my patient, he helps entrepreneurs. And he tells me his son quit his job. He's freaking out.He doesn't know what he's going to do.So I'd love to talk to him.You would?Yeah. Here's my number. And he called me about three weeks later, and we spent about 45 minutes on the phone because I got that opportunity. He tells me, you've given me more hope than everybody else has given me in my life right now.I didn't know what I was going to do, and I'm freaking. So that was a great reward to me, Joy.But then I woke up the next morning and $500 was sent to my PayPal.I'm like, what?Where'd this come from? And I look back, it was the coaching program I had shared with a guy who signed up for it.And that was my commission.Three months ago.I forgot all about it.Now people say coincidence.I think it's There's a correlation there somewhere.I just. You never know it.That rarely happens.

Kellan Fluckiger

I'm just going to be bold and say there is a correlation, and I don't care if you believe in it or not.It is, it has, it works, and period. And I boldly declare that I love what you just said. And I'm going to give you a phrase, not because you need one, but because it triggered something.I have a document called a ptac, a Personal Truth and Commitment Document, and I use it every day in my daily creation that defines who I am.And one of the lines is something you've been talking about each piece, and it says, I am present in each moment for free, unattached, and loving what is.And each of those words is carefully chosen.Present means I am not focused inward.Think of it as, do you have a mirror in front of you or a light? When you're internally focused, what's about me?Am I going to make money? What do they think of me?Me, me, me, me.It's a mirror. If you have a light, then you're giving something. So I'm present in each moment.Free, meaning I can choose.I have agency, unattached to the outcome, which is what you said. And loving what is.If you go through your moments like that, I have found that that is a key to creating, guess what?Your ultimate life.So that's what it made me think of when you were telling that story.

Steve Ramona

Thank you. That's a beautiful phrase. And, you know, you said something about maybe I don't need this. This phrase.I do.And that's the other thing about service, that people miss the point. And I could tell Carolyn, you're all, the more we learn.I'm 65.I'm learning more now.The more I can give back. These billionaires that I've talked to and work with the stuff, they've given me resources and tips, I can. How'd you learn that?Oh, I met, you know, Ivan Meisner, BNI founder. He gave me this tip, so be that sponge, because the more you know or have been given resources, the more you can serve people.

Kellan Fluckiger

When you've got a mirror in front of you, you can't see anything. When you've got a light, you're illuminating not only everybody else, but you're illuminating things for yourself. So I want you to tell everybody how can they find more?Like, say the names of your podcast again.Give us your website. If somebody's heard you now, and they're like, dang, I need to have more of this Steve dude.Like what does that look like?

Steve Ramona

So it's one of the three podcasts are doing business with a servant's heart.Just search that on Google. It's one of the only ones. It's the only podcast with that name or stories across the table. And you'll see Bridget is my co host or men walking in faith and purpose.Again, you'll see Chris is my co host.I'm on LinkedIn all the time at Steve Ramona.R A M O N A.You can email me Steve the letter R 1961 mail. You could tell I'm 65.Just turn June. The other thing is I have a community. It's a slightly small paid community, but I. I make people accountable.I teach these things.More importantly, anything that I learn, like a couple things you mentioned today, I will share with my community. Here's some things I'm going to be selfish right now.I don't usually do this on a podcast, but I love you, Kellen. Is that makes me look frickin pretty good. When I put up something they go, oh my God, Steve, that's great.Of course I give Callan or whoever, but that's really cool because people, everything I say, the Asta principal, share it out.Use that as your servant tool.Like here's something I learned on a podcast with Kellen.I love that.So always be learning. That's my other one.Always abl.Always be learning.

Kellan Fluckiger

Steve, you've said so many, so many nuggets today. And not only do I want you guys to listen to this two or three times, but take some notes because if you hear this and go, yeah, yeah, yeah, I already heard all that crap. You know what?Yes, everything that needs to be said has already been said, but because nobody was listening, it has to be said again. So just figure that out and go back and say instead, what can I learn here? What adjustment can I make that came out of Steve that will help me understand, learn, do?And the last thing you said is one of the last things.Give it all away.Sometimes people think I got to save stuff or what are people going to pay me for? That is the stupidest thing you could do.Okay, Give everything away.Your opportunities to do the transaction will come. They will. And you have to have a program or product or something organized or there's nothing to sell, so you got to do the back end work. But you don't be afraid. And the most important thing you can give away is your love and your listening.People do not listen. And you taught us that Earlier.Steve, do you have a final thing that you want to lay on us, or have you already exhausted your knowledge?I know that's not true, but go ahead, give us another thing.

Steve Ramona

Thank you for having me.You're a wonderful host.Yeah, I have this.I'm not a big fan of the elephant phrase.Take a bite of the elbow, you know, a little piece of the bite of that elephant.Every.You're not getting the whole elephant. It's an apropos when I teach, mentor entrepreneurs and business owners, get better 1% every day.Maybe it's listening to podcasts for 10 minutes once a week, but get better 1%.And it's October 1st, so we got three months left.So say we got about 80 days left in the year.If you got better 1% every day, January 1st, 2027, you're better 80%.Have you grown and are you a better person?

Kellan Fluckiger

That 1% is the key to the British cycling teams thing, and it also is in the books.Atomic habits.Right?Which I.

Steve Ramona

Love.

Kellan Fluckiger

It's absolutely.Think about it.In three months, you're 100% better.Almost right.90 Days. So, like, what have you got to lose so you can say, no way, I'm not going to do that.Okay, hang out where you're at.But unless you're already living, like, your ultimate life, what have you got to lose?Steve, thank you for your energy, your love, your presence, and for sharing this moment with me today.
